FSN Execution
Framework
The FSN Execution Framework (FEF) is our repeatable model for value creation during the ownership period.
Value Creation Process
The FSN Execution Framework (FEF) is how we drive successful strategy and execution in portfolio companies, while building the structural capital needed for long-term sustainable growth.
FEF is inspired by the Danaher Business System (DBS), a way of working developed by Danaher Corporation, one of the best performing companies in the public markets over the last 40 years.
Our disciplined approach to portfolio value creation combines Lean principles, management theory, and a belief that the best team wins.
Today, the FEF team includes operating professionals with functional expertise, who work closely with management teams and investment professionals on company onboarding, strategy development and execution, and targeted value creation initiatives.
STRATEGY
Using the FEF strategy process, FSN portfolio companies build a strategy, define the capabilities needed to deliver on it, and develop a plan for how to do so, with clear responsibilities and disciplined follow-up.
OPERATIONS
The FEF team supports portfolio companies on operational excellence initiatives, starting with a detailed assessment of operational processes and potential efficiencies. Throughout the ownership period, the FEF team supports management teams with optimizing performance.
“Deep dives into operations help us understand how to accelerate change, as well as uncover potential blockers.”
Awais Shafique
FEF Director, Copenhagen
TALENT
The Talent function works to strengthen portfolio company leadership, helping to fill management and board positions and build organizational capabilities.
“It’s not just about recruiting the best talent. It’s also about having a fact-based view on whether we have the right people in the right roles.”
Jesper Isaksen
Partner & Head of Talent, Copenhagen
ESG
The ESG team supports portfolio companies with the environmental, social, and governance topics that have a material impact on each business, from decarbonization to employee engagement.
“ESG initiatives should be calibrated to the needs of each industry. We work with each company to identify and manage their material topics.”
Mia Sørli Wikborg
ESG Manager, Oslo
FINANCE
The Finance team focuses on supporting CFOs to strengthen their finance function capabilities to drive profitability and cash performance.
“We are focusing a lot on growing EBITDA on the cost side. Even after the quick wins are gone, we can help most companies on structural savings, which can be more challenging.”
Johannes Brunner
Finance Director, Munich
DIGITAL
“A highlight was helping one of our portfolio companies develop an advanced IoT optimization software, which quickly attracted customers.”
Vincent Wahl
Digital Manager, Oslo
It’s the portfolio companies that do the job and win. We’re providing them with a toolbox and methodology that can support them in reaching their own goals.”
