Every day is different. We usually kick start the day by aligning on workload and setting our priorities for the day. We then divide the work between us interns and support each other throughout the day.
The tasks we get are from different people within the firm, from associates to partners, and can be anything from working on a live transaction to working with current portfolio companies. To me, this has been very educational and also a lot of fun, because you get a lot of impressions and insights when you are working with the whole investment cycle. You also get to work with many different colleagues, as well as across offices.
One thing I like about FSN is that everyone here is very helpful. As an intern, you are working closely with the team, so if questions occur, there is always someone there to help.
My first answer to that question would be my colleagues. I really enjoy going to work. We have a good team spirit, and we work hard to retain it with activities such as weekly lunches, workouts and dinners. I think that has been good for team-building and helped me feel a part of the team much faster.
Secondly, the work itself is very interesting and inspiring. It is an exciting environment to work in, because of the variations in tasks that you get from one day to another.
Lastly, I feel trusted by my colleagues. I have gotten more and more responsibility over time which has helped me evolve in my own development, and this is something I highly value.
Some tips for the hiring process are to do your research and think about why you want to work at FSN. Read about current investments and which investments you think are interesting and why. FSN highly encourages diversity and people expressing their thoughts. Being yourself is the best thing you can do when you interview, so don’t be afraid of sharing your own opinion.
If you are interested in private equity and are considering applying for an internship here, you will truly have a great time.
